Practical jokes can be funny, depending on what the joke is about and to whom is involved. Some jokes get a chuckle out of everyone, while others hurt a person intentionally or unintentionally. I’m a thick skinned person so I don’t take things too personally which defeats the purpose of the joke. I’m not a fun “victim”, except for one thing in particular: people absolutely love to scare me when I’m least expecting it, which in my case is all the time. I don’t mind it really, it isn’t hurtful or embarrassing. Every time I’m in the hallway someone always manages to jump out in front of me or grab my sides and yell. It doesn’t even faze certain people, but I get scared every time. Usually it’s friends that do it and I know they don’t mean anything by it so it doesn’t bother me. Vera played a nasty “joke” on Mr. Nuttle which in my opinion is the cruelest thing a person could do. This poor man is an emotional wreck. He’s timid and as nervous as a new kid on their first day of school. Both of the tricks had an outcome that was exactly as planned so both worked in the perpetrators favor. The joke played on me wasn’t nearly as bad when compared to the joke Vera played on Mr. Nuttle. The joke played on me was just a silly little joke that even gets a laugh out of me whereas the joke played on Mr. Nuttle was uncalled for and mean. This was not the best idea of Vera’s, but I don’t think she realized the extent of what she did. It’s hard for people to admit to their mistakes even though they can’t be taken back or redone. A person has to think about how their actions will affect the person in the long run. Put yourself in their shoes, how would you feel if that happened to you, would you feel hurt or embarrassed or even uncomfortable? Think all these things through first, and see if you’d still make the same decision.
